Europrogetti, the most trusted ZLD partner for Indian textile industry

Technology

The Indian textile industry has been growing steadily with a more positive outlook for the next decade. The product quality guaranteed by the industry has reached its quite satisfying for both European and American buyers.

Against this background, many industries have raised their production, and consequently the capacity of the ZLD plant. Currently the ZLD technology has been generally accepted. In the last 10 years, the technology has undergone changes and improvements that, with the experience gained in plant management, have proved to be fundamental for higher reliability and reducing operating costs. One of the greatest advances made in this direction is the use of the Membrane Bio Reactor (MBR) system instead of the traditional system that covers a clarifier, sand filter and UF.

Mr. Silvano Storti, CEO , Europrogetti

Europrogetti is a leader in the Indian textile sector, with more than 25 installed ZLD plants, many of which are managed directly through the subsidiary IWT&RS. The new plants use the MBR system as an integrated part of the process, while in the expansion underway the block “clarifier, sand filter and UF” is replaced with the MBR filtration. The advantages that this technology offers are really important, both technically and from the point of view of management savings.

Important groups such as KPR in Tirupur, Himatsingka in Hassan, Premier in Perundurai or Kitex in Cochin have decided on expansion of flow to pass to the installation of the MBR system. The advantages obtained have been found with a stable quality of the permeate (regardless of the biological condition) a very small space respect the old solution and a very simplified management.

Another very important aspect is an increase in the flow rate to be sent to reverse osmosis, with a notable decrease in CIP, a significant energy saving since a minor fouling of the membranes requires less pressure of operation and therefore, lower energy costs.

Some of these changes have been operational for more than 4 years, fully confirming the system stability and cost reduction. KPR has recently reconfirmed a second expansion with MBR, after a first one that has yielded excellent results. The ultrafiltration used for the first 10 years of operation of the ZLD system has been put on sale. This demonstrates total confidence in the new MBR system.

“Europrogetti has been having a successful partnership with Batliboi for last three years. Since then it has always been an enriching experience considering its work expertise, customer-oriented focus and, most importantly, commitment towards giving turnkey solution when it comes to ZLD requirement. This relationship will go a long way for the benefit of our customers,”
